Workshop for Professional Photographers

24. April – 3. May 2019

Photographic narratives and visual self-governance in Zambia

The Visual Arts Council of Zambia is hosting its second photography workshop in collaboration with Kerstin Hacker, Head of Photography at Anglia Ruskin University, UK 24rd of April to 3rd of May.

The workshop is aimed at photographers and lens based artists with high technical proficiency. It aims to enhance the photographers’ contextual, critical and narrative skills and to support photographers to find an individual voice in their photographic practice. Please note, that this is not a photographic skills workshop.

This year’s workshop will focus on the Kalingalinga district of Lusaka. This area exemplifies the economic, social and societal changes and rapid modernization of Lusaka.

Participating photographers and lens based artists will work together to develop individual narratives and selected photographers will be given the opportunity to exhibit their work in Zambia (Henry Tayali Gallery) and the UK (Ruskin Gallery, Cambridge) in 2020. Both venues are confirmed.
